Songs of the Industrial Revolution Multimedia Project

Your task . . .
1. Choose a song
2. Research it
3. Create a very short presentation using multimedia
4. Create an MLA bibliography.

5. Present to the class 

Steps
1. Find the lyrics to the song. In some cases you may actually have to transcribe the song (i.e., listen to it and write down the words).

Hints: 
When searching for the lyrics disregard who the artist is; the same song has very likely been recorded by many people.
Copy and paste the lyrics somewhere so you have them.


There could be slight spelling variations in the titles, e.g., Doffin' Mistress culd also be Doffin Mistress, Doffing Mistress, The Doffin' Mistress, The Doffing Mistress (most of the time "the" is not recognized by search engines unless it is enclosed in quotes such as "The Doffin' Mistress").

There are often many variations of these songs. If the lyrics you find don't match the recorded version try to edit in the correct lines.


2. Identify any specialized vocabulary (terms, people, places, events)

3. Put the song in context. When was it written? Where? What was going on at the time?

4. Some questions to consider:
Who was the song intended for?
How did people feel singing this song?
What is the songwriter's argument?

5. After you have a pretty good idea of the meaning of the song develop a way to present it to the class.


6. Present your song to the class using your creation.
Your ultimate goal is to help your classmates understand the meaning of the song and what it has to do with the Industrial Revolution.
