So, you are doing a website for NHD . . .

First . . .
Make sure you start your Weebly account through the NHDWeebly Portal on the NHD home page.

DO NOT JUST GO THROUGH THE REGULAR WEEBLY!

Then . . .
Take a look at the websites that won at Nationals last year.

Here is what they all have in common that yours should have too:
Clear thesis on the home page
Tabs are labeled with some kind of logic, e.g.,
  • Context
  • The main story
  • Short-term impact
  • Long-term impact
  • Conclusion

This is just a suggested format but you really do need to have a system of organization.

Don't forget to PUBLISH after every editing session!

Also . . .
Support your thesis
Connect your topic to the theme

More Website Tips

Use lots of images (photos, maps, document, etc.).

Use multimedia (nearly all of the winning projects have clips have some video or audio clips embedded).

Watch your word count (1200); in one of the webinars a former NHD judge said that when she judged websites she would copy and paste text from the website to a Word doc to get a word count.

Use the "Document" Weebly feature to embed your process paper and your annotated bibliography.
